It's a hedge, it's groundcover and it's a container joy

All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 2002

Fleuroselect Novelty Award winner 2001

Like the essence of moonlight, these silvery blooms with deep purple centers and wispy purple veining create a peaceful, elegant atmosphere in any setting. And "any setting" is just where you can grow them—from containers to bedding to trellises to edging, Tidal Wave Silver fits them all. Amazingly versatile, it is called a "hedgiflora"—but we just call it "wonderful".

The blooms range from 2 to 2½ inches across, and some are deeply blushed with purple while others are nearly pure white. The silver tone is utterly unique, complementing other spreading petunias very well and making a nice companion both to light- and dark-toned designs. These blooms aren't shrinking violets, either—they stand up to summer storms beautifully, bouncing back from rain and wind without turning a petal. Expect a long summer season of bloom in the sunny yard or patio.

The plant itself is as much of a star as its flowers, offering an adaptable habit completely unlike other Petunias'. Spaced closely together, the plants form an upright mound or even a low hedge, drenched with silvery blooms and utterly charming. Set against a trellis and given a little help to get started, it forms a floriferous climber. Widely spaced in bed or border, it creeps along as a lovely ground cover. And then there's its "traditional" use as a trailing Petunia in baskets, planters, and other containers.

Tidal Wave Silver is an All America Selection winner, and we predict it will be the spreading petunia of choice for gardeners looking for something a little distinctive in the garden. It is superbly botrytis-resistant (which is enough to convince us, even without any other merits, that we must have it) and very long-blooming. In short, a highly adaptable, vigorous, gorgeous petunia you really should try. Pair it with its new award-winning sister, Tidal Wave Velour. Plant in full sun, feed and water it well all season, and you will be rewarded with masses upon masses of moonlight-bright blooms.

This seed comes as a "pellet". "Pelleted" seeds are small seeds that have been clay-coated to make them larger and more uniform in size and shape, making them easier to handle when planting.

The seeds that germinated did so under 7 days

This shopper rated the product 4 out of 5 stars

But 3 pelletized seeds did not germinate. So far the ones that did look good & strong.

I love all of these tidal wave petunias. They literally do grow like a hedge sometimes. Prolific, huge, beautiful. They never stop blooming and always look great.

YAY!!! I am looking forward to planting and growing these magnificent flowers.

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I bought some of these flowers several years ago and the next year could not find anyone who sold them. They are awesome and their scent is breathtaking. My husband was so happy when I told him that I'd found them!!! I was actually cleaning out an old flowerbed and found a broken plant tag from one of the plants I'd planted there previously. I was ecstatic and imagine my joy when I looked on your website and there was this wonderful plant for which I'd looked and looked!!

The best petunia for the PNW

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

It grows with a scant 6 hrs of direct sun, it flows in a wave quite extensively & doesn't stop or lose the center blooms right up to frost. Goes with every color. I have grown it several years in a row from seeds & plants.

Silver outperforms red by far. I have grown these in Zone 4 and Zone 8a. They are HUGE. If in a space where they can spread they will be 4-6 feet in diameter and a foot tall. IN fact, one grew so large that it covered and killed one of my new foot tall shrubs because it grew over it and blocked out the sun. I kept moving the petunia off of it but it was too vigorous and grew back over in a few days each time. I gave up. If in a space where they cannot spread as well mine have grown 2 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide. I won't promise it because it depends on weather but in upstate NY these came back once when properly mulched. My GA ones have stayed green most of the winter but of course are not flowering. I find that these are easy to dampen off so expect to only see about half- but believe me you had better have a lot of lawn if all of them make it to planting!! I wish I could attach a photo. These silver waves are unbelievable. They bounce back after storms too.
