Turnip Seeds

Roots and greens are equally delicious!

The turnip is an easy-to-grow, vitamin-rich root crop that's great for winter storage. Delicious either cooked or raw, turnips can be planted in spring, late summer, or fall for either the zesty roots or the nutritious greens. Spring turnips should be harvested when the tops or roots reach usable size (they're at their most mild and tender at 2-3" in diam.). Start gathering your fall turnips in early fall or as needed. Turnips are hardy to fall frosts and may even be sweetened by the cool weather, meaning even more spicy flavor for those winter soups and stews!
