A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Viburnum Spice Baby™ is a deciduous shrub that flowers in early spring. Borne on old wood, the blush white flowers emerge from pretty pink buds. The large, fragrant clusters attract pollinators, including bees and butterflies.
Spice Baby has a compact, upright, freely branching, outwardly spreading habit and vigorous growth, stronger than other compact V. carlesii varieties, which are commonly called Koreanspice. It's a lovely specimen for smaller spaces but is shown to best effect massed or grouped in beds, borders, or foundation plantings. And it makes a great hedge or privacy screen.
Cold hardy and easy care, Koreanspice grows best in sunny locations to partly sunny locations with moist, slightly acidic, well-draining soils but adapts to most soils, except very wet ones. Spice Baby is shade tolerant, but best flowering and fall color occurs with a minimum of 4 to 6 hours a day. Any desired pruning should be done immediately after flowering.
