Description

Now with bigger flowers and many more of them, beginning a full week earlier

Petunia Wave has taken the gardening world by storm since its introduction a few years ago. Its spreading habit is just stunning, covering ground at the rate of several inches every single day, and trailing lots of big, colorful blooms as it goes.

Purple is the Wave® that started it all, and it's still undoubtedly the finest for big blooms and rapid coverage. The vibrant rosy-purple blooms simply cover this 5-to 7-inch-tall plant—and that's saying a lot, because the densely-branched plant spreads 3 to 4 feet before you can turn around. Purple Wave® won an AAS award, and it just keeps piling up the praise from gardeners everywhere. So we're especially pleased to introduce the Improved Purple Wave®, with bigger blooms, heavier flowering, and quicker finishing time.

Easy to grow from our convenient pelleted seed, which should be started indoors 5 to 6 weeks before transplant to the early spring garden. Set out plants when all danger of frost is past. Wave® Purple Improved will begin blooming 9 to 11 weeks after sowing. It is magnificent in hanging baskets, window boxes, and large containers, as well as an unrivalled groundcover for bright sun. Stupendous.

If you like Purple Wave—as just about everyone in America does—you've got to try other colors, too. Blue just walked off with top honors in the 2003 U.S. and European trials, nabbing both the AAS and the Fleuroselect Gold Medal. Then there's soft Misty Lilac (yes, another AAS winner) with white-splashed blooms, and the totally award-free but just as high-performing (from what I can see) Pink. Catch any or all of the Waves—you just can't wipe out. Cowabunga.

This seed comes as a "pellet". "Pelleted" seeds are small seeds that have been clay-coated to make them larger and more uniform in size and shape, making them easier to handle when planting.

Better than Burpee!

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I love Park petunia seeds because 1) they are pelleted, which means the small seeds are not as easy to "lose" when you're trying to plant them, 2) all of my Park seeds from multiple packets sprouted, and 3) the seed count in the packets were correct. When I ordered Burpee the year before last, the seed count was incorrect, not all of them sprouted, and they were incredibly difficult to plant being so tiny. The price was much higher as well. I'll be ordering from Park every year from now on! And as for this particular petunia, it's been a mainstay in our garden since we discovered it in 2019 and will continue to be. It spreads about 4 feet and is covered in blooms all summer. If you space them correctly, they can provide a sea of almost neon color in a large space. We get tons of compliments every summer!

I love purple wave petunias

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I'm trying something different with them this year in that I'm hoping to train them to grow up around the banisters on my front porch. I've got fishing line strung up and with any luck I can weave the stems through the line and create a curtain of purple flowers. Purple wave petunias get about three to four feet long for me, so stems of that length would be nearly perfect in that role. I'll have to see how it works.

Unbelievable color!

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I grew these last year and they did outstanding in a big 26" round diameter pot. They cascaded over the pot and were a solid purple "wave" of color. When the plants grew out of the pot and were touching the sidewalk I elevated the pot up on a bench so they could grow even more. The color by the end of the summer was just breath taking.

I've grown Park Seeds for over 20 years. Very happy with them. from IA
