Weigela Tower of Flowers® Apple Blossom is a deciduous flowering shrub offering 3 seasons of interest, blooming in late spring/early summer. Apple Blossom has an unusual, neat habit with erect branches. Set against oval leaves, which emerge bronzed and mature to dark green, large shell-pink flowers bloom in clusters along the entire stem, creating a column of flowers. Nectar-rich, the long-lasting, tubular flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
Apple Blossom has a dense, compact habit and rapid growth rate. It is an excellent specimen in garden or container but is shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds, borders, and landscapes. It's perfect for small urban garden spaces and a natural for pollinator gardens.
Cold hardy, easy to grow, and low maintenance, weigela grows best in sunny to partly shady locations with average, medium moist, well-drained soil, but best flowering is in full sun. They stand up well to pests, disease, pollution, and summer heat. They also tend to be deer resistant. Any desired pruning should be done immediately after flowering is finished.
