Fleuroselect Gold Medal; Fleuroselect Novelty Award
A member of the Zany series, Gazania Sunny-Side Up is a garden treasure that blooms all season, from early summer to fall, often to first frost. The daisyesque flowers are large and bicolored with a unique color pattern for gazanias of sunny golden-orange rays and light-yellow tips. And this extraordinary color combination is color stable.
A Gazania rigens variety, commonly called gazania or treasure flower, Zany Sunny-Side Up, an F1 hybrid, is a low-growing, warm-weather perennial, often grown as an annual in cooler climates, with a compact, mounding habit. Gazania is shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds, borders, or landscapes, but it also makes a great container plant and is a natural in a rock garden.
A low-maintenance plant, gazania grows best in a sunny location with average to sandy, well-draining soil. The plant tolerates dry conditions but prefers consistent moisture; however, overly wet soils will cause root and stem rot. Zany Sunny-Side Up is extremely heat tolerant. Deadheading promotes additional blooms.
