I tried several times to grow these. Never even germinated. I successfully grew corn, okra, peppers, squash, turnips, asparagus, herbs, tomatoes, tomatillos, etc... but these did nothing. Sadly.

Easy to grow shallots from seed!
Linda Perkins from NC wrote on January 10, 2020

I have been growing Zebrune shallots for several years in zone 7, but am now living in zone 8 where I thought the heat and humidity would be too intense for shallots. Last summer I harvested a great crop of large shallots and in December I planted the remaining seeds in a flat, they all sprouted and now need transplanting to deeper pots. I started them on a heating mat and they are now under a grow light. I highly recommend growing them!
