Description

Blooms the first year from seed

The first Rose Mallow to bloom from seed the first year—no more waiting around for those huge, lovely blooms with Luna™ Mix Hibiscus Seeds.

And what a terrific variety Luna™ Mix Hibiscus is, with 8-inch flowers that swirl open each morning in luscious shades of red, rose, white, and a swirl of lilac-pink-white. Altogether an easy and very, very heavy-blooming sun-lover, it is icing on the cake that this native perennial is beloved by hummingbirds and shunned by deer.

The flowers on Luna™ Mix Hibiscus are the size of dinner plates, and they almost hide the foliage at the height of bloom season, crowding onto well-branched but compact plants just 2 to 3 feet tall and about 2 feet wide. Expect the first buds to unfurl in midsummer, followed by dozens more before the season ends in late fall.

In Luna™ Mix you get all 4 Luna colors: 3 solids (white, rose, and red) and the fascinating pink swirl, with petals that resemble the blades of a fan. Luna gleams in the late afternoon and twilight garden. It will put you in mind of the luna moth it was named for, and is an excellent choice near the patio or deck where evening entertaining occurs.

Luna™ Mix Hibiscus likes very moist, even wet soils, growing happily at water's edge. During dry spells give it extra moisture as needed to keep the flowers coming. Beyond this, Luna™ Mix Hibiscus is virtually carefree. And even though it blooms the first year from a spring planting, you can also sow the seeds outdoors in fall for spring germination. So easy.

Every seed germinated!

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I bought these because the picture was pretty. I also like hibiscus :) I am a beginner at growing and after nicking and soaking these over night, I planted them in peat moss with a handful of perlite and vermiculite and with in days I saw little seedlings. Granted I DID USE HEATING PADS and an indoor plant light. But every seed germinated and are nice size seedlings now. If i could I would upload a few photos.

Really enjoyed these last summer. Most seeds germinated. I started them inside with potting soil under grow light in February. They were vigorous and hard to beat the beauty of these big flowers. Just like the pictures. Would recommend planting in clusters.

3 Healthy Little Seedlings

This shopper rated the product 4 out of 5 stars

3 out of 5 seeds sprouted and that's pretty good for this specific plant. So far, the seedlings are robust and healthy and will be moved to the flowerbed as soon as the last frost date passes. I'm happy so far with the health and the germination. And, my experience with Park Seed has been that the plants are typically robust and good performers.

Hibiscus Luna Mix

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

Idk about the previous reviewer but all 6 of my seeds sprouted within a day! If they had photo uploads I would show them. YOU MUST NICK THE SEED COATING AND SOAK IN WARM WATER OVER NIGHT PLANT THE NEXT MORNING. When I soaked mine i put the cup of the water and seeds next to my wax candle melter to keep the water warm. They sprouted the day after planting. I must say I DO have a grow tent, heating mats and a grow light though. Either way viable seeds!
