Another AAS award for this amazing series

These blooms are fully 2½ inches wide, and there's more of them—they pop up all over super-compact plants, drawing bees and butterflies into the garden and absolutely wowing those hot, dry beds and water-starved containers. Double Zahara™ Salmon Zinnia are not really grown for cut flowers, but you'll find yourself picking plenty for bouquets . . . and why not? New flowers will open to replace them double-quick.

Renowned for its ability to withstand heat, humidity, drought, and just about anything else, the Zahara® series is the first bedding zinnia that can truly claim to be disease-resistant. Mildew is a traditional enemy of the zinnia, but Zahara's® got it licked. (Or should we say "dried".) Luckily, it's also very long-blooming, prepared to continue well into autumn as long as the hot weather holds. What a joy Double Zahara™ Salmon Zinnia will be.

This Double Zahara™ Salmon Zinnia is the annual you'll want along that baking-hot driveway or cement path, crowding against the house (the walls reflect heat), and beautifying the patio (which never gets watered often enough). Just 16 to 20 inches high and wide, it can be planted a bit more closely than other bedding zinnias, again thanks to the mildew resistance. No need to worry about the foliage "touching".

Direct sow Double Zahara™ Salmon Zinnia Seeds. When the soil has already warmed and spring is well underway, this plant will flower within 9 to 10 weeks of sowing. But if you want to get an earlier start, or if that hot April turns into a chilly May, no fear—Double Zahara™ Salmon Zinnia will grow vigorously all the same, and simply wait for the warm weather before blooming. Why can't all plants be this cooperative? No wonder it won an AAS award.

These were very easy to grow and flowers are large and lasted well into the fall.

If I could only buy one zinnia, this would be it

Beautiful fully double flowers, some plants showing more of a solid salmon and others shading from apricot in the center to a deep pink with salmon overtones on the outer edges. Paired with fuchsia pink petunias this is a tropical cocktail. Performance varied based on conditions: In a large pot, not crowded, with fresh Miracle Grow Moisture Control mix, in full sun: PERFECT! Plants were bushy, covered in blooms, and trailed over the edges of the container very attractively. In garden soil, in full sun, no supplemental water or feeding, these were almost as great a performer as the Profusion Double Hot Cherry and the Profusion Lemon zinnias they were planted with. In a slightly more shaded and smaller container, competing with fibrous begonias for space and water, they struggled to overcome slug damage, resulting in fewer and smaller flowers of a more beige-pink color. I garden in zone 4/5 in central NY state, and this year we had nothing but rain and cool temperatures until the end of July. These are a winner!
