Meet the quickest, brightest, most resilient coneflower yet

All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 2013

Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner 2012

Winner of both the highly coveted Fleuroselect Gold Medal and an All-America Selection, Cheyenne Spirit is one of the most exciting seed debuts of the 21st Century. This stunning mix offers well-branched, uniform, compact plants in brilliant colors. They bloom the first year from a late winter/early spring sowing, bounce back after wind or rain, need very little water to thrive, and repeat all season long without deadheading. In short: a gardener's dream come true.

Bright daisies of cream, yellow, gold, orange, scarlet, red, and purple top these stocky little plants from midsummer all the way into fall, replacing themselves without you having to cut or deadhead them. Every color in the mix reaches about the same size, and the flowers are very long lasting in garden or vase. Best of all, Cheyenne Spirit demonstrates great resistance to wind and rain, bouncing back after a storm much more effectively than other Echinacea varieties.

And unlike older Echinacea varieties, Cheyenne Spirit blooms the very first year—just 23 to 24 weeks after a January sowing. So get out your Bio Dome or seed flats and prepare to dazzle the garden with bright, easy-care coneflowers in every color.

Once Cheyenne Spirit establishes itself in your garden—within a single season with a little TLC—it is very drought tolerant, and stands up to heat, humidity, and cold effortlessly. This makes it a godsend in today's hotter summers and unpredictable winters.

This plant reaches 18 to 30 inches high and about 12 to 20 inches wide, with dark green foliage and very strong, thick stems supporting the bounty of blooms. When transplanting your seedlings, space the plants about 10 to 14 inches apart in the sunny garden, and then jump back. You're about to be overwhelmed with brilliant nonstop color.

Bred by Jian Ping Ren of Illinois, Cheyenne Spirit is from the same program as Echinacea PowWow Wild Berry. It's a bright new day for coneflowers, and this lively mix is the new seed variety you must grow. This showstopper has not gone un-noticed: it was named a "Top New Sun-Loving Perennials for 2014" by Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.

Park seed in general

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I have been ordering from your company since about 2008. I have always had success with all the seeds I have ever ordered from your company. Now that I live in Florida, I still order my seeds, but the growing season is completely different from up north where I used to live. I still grow all my favorites, but I have to start the seeds in late September so that I can have my plants in December until early April. I would not order my seeds from any other place except Park Seeds. Love all of your products also.

Fabulous color

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I have grown these cornflowers from seed several times and I am very pleased with the variety of colors, and the hardiness of these plants. The colors are clear and bright and the plants are loaded with blooms. These are absolutely the best coneflowers available that can be grown easily from seed. I start them indoor under grow lites and then plant them outside in full sun. They take the humidity and temp of my heat zone 7 garden very well.

Near 100% germination

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

So far, so good. This year I stratified the seeds by putting them in the fridge for a couple of weeks after planting, and I am very impressed by the quick germination and vigor of the seedlings.

easy

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

Easy to start from seed and easy to grow to the point of putting them outside. Pleased with them. It is mid June and I think some will bloom this summer which will be their first year from seed.
