Description / Echinacea Sombrero® Hot Coral Coneflower
Paint your garden with shades of warm orange-pink with Sombrero® Hot Coral Coneflower. Beginning late in spring and lasting through summer, these blossoms burst to life in a variety of gentle pinkish orange hues with hints of salmon, peach and, of course, coral. Irresistible to butterflies, the blooms eventually draw songbirds into the autumn garden as well with their seed-filled cones. Easy to grow and brilliantly colored, this is a must-have echinacea.
The Sombrero® series of compact, free-flowering coneflowers is just perfect for gardeners who love the beauty of echinacea blooms but don't want those big, leafy plants taking up too much space in the border. Sombrero® Hot Coral Coneflower is only about 2 feet tall and not quite as widepetite enough to grow in a container on the deck. Yet the flower power is tremendousmasses of bright 2½- to 3-inch blooms for months on end. And when the last petal falls in autumn, keep the bare cones on the plant so that songbirds can feast on the seeds within. (Great photo op!)
The Sombreros® were also bred for cold hardiness, so if you have had issues with other echinacea varieties freezing out, this is the one to grow. Of course, Sombrero® Hot Coral Coneflower also stands up to drought, heat, humidity, poor soil, and just about everything else, but winter hardiness is one of its specialties.
This selection of our native American purple coneflower brings the beauty of the prairies and meadows into home gardens. You will adore Sombrero® Hot Coral Coneflower, both in the garden and the vase. Happy growing.
