Description

Sets fruit without pollination

Days to Maturity: 54

All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 1983

Sweet Success is a truly seedless, burpless garden cucumber so high-performing it won an AAS award. Slender, 14-inch fruits are terrifically flavorful and free of bitterness, with thin, smooth skin. Vigorous plant sets fruit without pollination; if other cucumber varieties are near, it may pollinate, in which case a few undeveloped seeds may be present. Plant is resistant to cucumber mosaic virus, scab, and target leaf spot.

Direct sow seeds in a sunny spot after all danger of frost is past, or start indoors and transplant when the first true leaf appears. Cucumbers can be allowed to grow on the ground, but for longer, straighter fruit and to save garden space, grow them in a cage or on a trellis, allowing 1 foot between plants. Keep them well-watered, and keep the fruits picked promptly.

Greenhouse Perfect

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

These are the best, non bitter, cucumbers that I have tasted BUT the best thing is that I can grow them in the greenhouse and do NOT NEED to pollinate them!! I have a trellis on the back north wall of the greenhouse and they grow up there just amazingly well. If you have a greenhouse, these are the best kind to buy, although they would do well outside as well. If you are in an area that is a short season before frost and want to grow them in a greenhouse, this is definitely the one to grow as they are the best tasting cuke as well - just cannot beat this cucumber!!

Great Cucumbers

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I have planted these cucumbers foe several years. I a Earthbox with a trellis. Only 10 seeds but the yield is very large. They look like the photo in the catalog, long and slim. Great tasting. The p;ants will produce for a long time. Very nice looking plants with huge leaves and very tall vines, over the top of my 6 foot trellis and down the back side. One year a vine grabbed a tree bract and went uo it fir 8 feet. Hard to harvest the cucumbers on that. I keep going back to them and hope they stay around for a ling time. Rhank you

Tastiest cukes

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

These are the best tasting cucumbers and since they are parthenocarpic, they are very prolific. All seeds germinated, with no issues, some I started indoors in peat pots and some I started directly in the garden. Be careful to keep them picked so as not to let any over-ripen because one of my vines stopped producing when I accidentally let a cuke go too long on the vine. Can't go wrong with these.

Excellent Cucumber

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great cucumber, long, mild, non bitter, none or very little seeds and best of all it grows great in my greenhouse because it doesn't need pollinated (what a bonus) There were 10 seeds in the packet and every one grew. I have a plastic fencing fixed on one wall of my greenhouse and the plants grow up there and are beautiful. They are long vines (not bush) but because I have this trellis, there is room to plant them fairly close together and they are easily picked too. Perfect for me, I would not buy any other kind. Because I live in Canada and our summers are short, it is just great to grow them in the greenhouse.
