A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Weigela My Monet Purple Effect® is a small deciduous shrub offering spring through fall interest, blooming late spring. It is grown primarily for its variegated cream, green, and pink foliage, layered with a cast of purple, which looks good right up to first frost. An improved selection, My Monet Purple Effect grows a bit faster and tolerates heat even better than the original My Monet®. It blooms heavier too, its tubular rosy pink flowers attracting even more pollinators to the garden.
An excellent, highly versatile landscape plant, My Monet Purple Effect has vigorous growth and a freely branching, compact habit. It is an excellent specimen in garden or container but is shown to best effect when grouped or massed and is especially nice in the front of beds and borders.
Cold hardy to Zone 4 and easy to grow, weigela grows best in sunny to partly shady locations with moderately fertile, moist, well-draining soil but tolerates clay soil. Deer resistant.
